Listening to some Abraham... some notes.

Just finished listening to my latest Abraham CD- I subscribe to their monthly CDs- keeps me on the track of remembering life is supposed to be fun, and not to take any of it too seriously.
As time goes on, i become less and less tolerant of any bad feeling thoughts, and more and more focused on concentrating on the good ones.
As I was listening, I thought it would be fun to jot down a few of my favorite ideas, and stick them all over my computer. A practice I am not foreign too- but my giant mac needed some decorating. Anyway, just so you know, these are on fluorescent green sticky notes all over my monitor. Here are the ones I chose to focus on:
- Make peace with where you are.
-Enjoy the moment.
-Focus on what you want.
-Bring your feeling of well-being to the moment.
-Let go of the oars.
-Become the full version of all I have lived.
Since I listened to the CD- I like to jot down these little thoughts, because it brings the understanding of what I have absorbed to the moment.
Basically- Abraham describes us as being in a stream of well-being- saying life is setup to bring us easily to the conclusion of any desires we have. So the process is simple. Experience life- develop preferences, wants, and desires- live that- rinse and repeat. The important part of this being- that we can't get it wrong, we never get it done, and the point is joy- doing it for the fun of it. With that brief basis, lets go over some of my notes, and I'll explain why I picked them and what they mean to me. Would love to hear your thoughts on all of this as well (unless this just totally doesn't resonate with you- then keep em to yourself). ;)
Make peace with where you are.
If we are fussing about something in the moment- we are pinching off our energy flow. Abraham uses the stream analogy to point out that resisting the moment is like paddling up stream- when everything we want is downstream. So I have this as my first sticky for those days when I am feeling a little bit off- to make sure i am remembering to....
Enjoy the moment.
This is the point of living right? To enjoy the ever changing moment? It is for me. Which is why I never want to forget to enjoy as many moments as possible.
Focus on what you want.
Abraham says that a big reason why a lot of people paddle upstream is because they are constantly talking in opposition of what they want. They said if we could determine what we want- and then only talk in the direction of it (ie being excited about it, talking up the positive aspects) our lives would move along so famously (as they say). This makes a lot of sense to me- because when i am thinking about my desired outcome, and imaging the feeling of it- the enthusiasm I feel is thru the roof! Not only do I go with the flow, but it feels as if I am moving down a very fast moving river. At that point, I have noticed if I resist or believe I am not worthy, or have doubt- I experience some very strong negative emotion- and the results of that resistance manifest quickly in my life (as in within a few days). When they do, its a good reminder to make peace with where I am, enjoy the moment, and get focused on what i want again.
Bring your feeling of well-being to the moment.
When I am in that fast moving river- and I am feeling unlimited, secure, and full of possibilities- I try to spread the love wherever I can. Just being, or vibrating that love in the moment has enormous implications. It is as if when there is drama happening- there is a chain of pain (as abe calls it) that goes on- and they say they one who stops it is the one who is connected to their source, and making an effort to align their energy before taking action. I notice the results as those who come into contact with me leave laughing or smiling- it creates a much more desirable chain.
Let go of the oars.
Abraham says when we are paddling upstream, all we have to do is let go of the oars and the stream will turn us naturally. In other words, if we are focusing on a thought that is causing us to go upstream- letting go, or letting go and letting god- whatever you want to call it will give us a feeling of relief, as if we have let go of the oars, and we are letting the stream cary us to our desired outcome- whether that be something specific, or just a feeling of well-being. For me- when I really start going with the flow, sometimes I want to take control-and i usually want to take excessive action- and that just puts me upstream. So this is a key reminder for me to just enjoy the ride once I get it going. Life can do more in a moment than I could do with my action in 5 lifetimes- so it just makes sense to use our full being to its full capacity- even if we are still coming to an understanding of what that might be. In my book- it feels exilerating, so it must be good.
and finally...
Become the full version of all I have lived.
You've read this far, so I assume you are ok with the rabit hole? :)
Abraham says they are non-physical energy- Source energy- God energy- whatever. They say when we know what we don't want, we shoot off a 'rocket of desire', and then our larger, non-physical selves (the juice behind this sexy body) becomes the full version of all of those rockets of desire. They say when we croak, we become it fully- but we have called them forth because we wanted to become it while we were still alive in this lifetime. Makes sense to me. This reminder helps me to remember there is always going to be something greater out there- and i will live something I don't like, only to gain more clarity on what it is I do- and it feels like life's greatest travesty to not become that full version. Of course, it changes, and we never get it done- but hey- i'm up for as many new versions as I can fit in a lifetime. :)
One of the last people who asked them a question on the CD was asking on behalf of his 13 year old for some tips on how to get a girl he wanted. Abraham responded brilliantly, as always, and added that the dad and everyone in the room felt extremely wise as compared to this 13 year old-- and said, 'imagine how we feel!'.
They said, 'all of you 13 year olds...making a big deal over stuff that doesn't matter- isn't it time we be more playful about it?
:)

Help

I'm making peace with where I am and enjoying this moment :)
Haha right on Mark-
And since I have already gotten a couple messages asking where I get the CDs from:

Awesome post, NMD! :0) I've been doing a lot of Abraham listening and reflecting myself lately (not that that's any thing new!) I just want to offer up major gratitude and “props” to Abraham and also to Esther and Jerry Hicks for being the vessels that bring their wisdom forth for all of us.
Out of all the fave's you posted (and they're all fave's of mine as well)…I think “let go of the oars” is my resounding favorite right now. There's something about that sweet moment when I recognize I'm paddling again and then saying YES to letting go of the oars, allowing the current to turn me around toward my heart's desires …oooo, that rocks me so deep! Sweet Relief…sometimes an utter rush of “Wooooo-Weeeeee”! :0) Also LOVE getting more and more clear every day about what I love to do, who I love to be and what makes my heart sing the sweetest harmonies…and being in that flow!
Flow on, Bradah! (a little pidgin from Kauai for ya) …Oh, and could you take a picture of you and your computer laden in neon green post-its?? We'd all love to see that!
Sistah Debra :0)
It is soo good to see inside the mind of a Ninja. Thank you for this post.
“Experience life- develop preferences, wants, and desires- live that- rinse and repeat.”
I love this concept of life-development preferences. My life development preference today is to embody a fuller expression of myself and laugh during the whole experience.
One rocket of desire coming up!!!
This whole post is excellent Ninja!
Here's one of my favorite parts:
“So this is a key reminder for me to just enjoy the ride once I get it going. Life can do more in a moment than I could do with my action in 5 lifetimes- so it just makes sense to use our full being to its full capacity- even if we are still coming to an understanding of what that might be.”
Right on! Thanks for sharing.
S. Debra- I also appreciate them often- just incredible to do what they are doing. The whole situation just wreaks of love and perfection. ;)
Thanks for the positive energy, Jenn + Dave! :)
Dave- I think that is one of my favorite parts too now that I've read it as a quote. ;)
Playing in becoming the full version of who I am… and I am really full from lunch. :)
lol nice. Me too. On both accounts. ;)
I can always count on your blogs for inspiration! Thank you for sharing. I feel like reading one of their books right now. BTW, how is Colorado treatin' ya? I went snowboarding yesterday and thought of you. …..It's totally cool if you ski…I swear! ; )
Beautiful stuff bro - glad to have you here as our Director of Feel Good Vibes :)
Haha thanks Lori. :)
Glad you liked it, Chris. :) Did you check out my new title yet? ;)
F of the F - dig it!
WOW, NMD, this was exactly what I needed today. Talk about synchronicity. I was just reading the email that was sent on Tuesday-“friend's activities”–and noted your blog entry. As a big fan of Abraham myself, I decided to check it out. You so succinctly stated just what I needed to hear today. I have been feeling doubtful, self-sabatoging, etc. the last 3 days and your post just shook me back to remembering who i am. Thank you so much. It is strange how we know these things, and work hard to live the principles of right thought, letting go, etc. and then whammo without any warning sometimes, we get knocked over into that dark place of negativity.
The post-its are great ideas and I am going to put them on my computer as well. Most of my quotes are too long for stickies so these sum it up very well.
As a middle-age woman who has “studied and practiced” this stuff most of my life, it is also very refreshing to see a “young” person on this path. I do not have contact with very many people out of my age range, so I just want to give you a heads up. Again thanks so much for the reminders!!
“and your post just shook me back to remembering who i am.”
It's what I do… ;) I have been appreciating those people who are catalyst towards getting me in a good feeling place recently. Funny how we litterally 'put out' what we place our focus on. :) So glad to hear you are feeling connected again, Caralena. As Abe says, your feeling of connection isn't like a college degree- that once you get it you have it forever. The goal is not to feel good all of the time (most of the time is good tho)- as passionate (and largely untamed) life adventurers- we are likely going to see some stuff that will trigger a perspective that was taught to us which isn't in alignment with the way our Source energy feels about it. So, like you, when I feel it, I take it for what it is- I am appreciative I have the knowing of what that anger means, and I know as I relax into it, and begin to feel hopeful- I am appreciative that I took the time to align my perspective. As abe says, we don't get angry at the gas meter for telling us the car is running on empty- we cannot condem ourselves, ever- especially while feeling negative emotion, simply because our Source never ever ever ever condems us- it sees us as freedom, love- it is our job to get up to speed with that. :) So follow your bliss, yes- but if anger is calling- follow that on your way to bliss. ;)
In being gentle with ourselves,
Dave
Thanks for this post! What struck me was the part about letting go of the oars. So much of my life is devoted to “the effort”. And certainly I feel the exhaustion when I'm paddling against the streams of livingness. Aaahh, the Protestant Work Ethic in full disfunction! You can escape the church and I did at an early age, but there's something about that fear of being lazy that I'm still learning to let go of. I love the image of the river just turning me around to engagement with flow if I just stop paddling and give myself the gentleness I'd give to someone else.
Wheee!
Janet
I'm all for laziness. But never too lazy that I am not even managing how I am feeling. ;)
In laziness,
NMD
Abraham is wonderful. Thanks for spreading the word about possibly the greatest group of teachers on the Earth today! It is one of my points of attraction to see as many people as possible knowing of the Abraham-Hicks teachings so that all may benefit from their wisdom.
Feel Good,
Alex
There's no way I couldn't spread the word, Alex. ;) I def share your enthusiasm for taking life on planet earth to the next level. Thanks for shining your light. :)
Feeling good,
Dave
