What Do Our Dreams Mean?
Dreams are one of the most useful tools you can use to determine where your future reality is headed. I have been recording my dreams since I was 16 years old-- at first just for fun-- but it really is only recently that I can really understand what they mean.
Our thought creates reality. Thought actually creates matter-- we are creators beyond our own comprehension (that is the way it seems sometimes at least). Whatever you give your attention to is what you will get. When you appreciate something, you are saying, "more please". When you say "no" to something, you are saying, "more please". The trick being to say "no" just long enough till you have a clear vision of what it is you DO want. From there, you should feel excited, eager, happy-- if you are truly envisioning (creating) something you do want. It should feel good and refreshing!
Our dreams give us a sneak peak of what our future reality holds. The most important aspect being how we felt doing the dream.
In every moment of everyday, we are closing the gap on SOMETHING. We are creating something, and bringing ourselves to our own creation. Our emotions are the indicators that let us know what we are closing the gap on-- something wanted, or something unwanted. Good feelings mean we are closing the gap on something we want, while anything less than wonderful means we are closing the gap on something that is not wanted. Sure, it is nearly impossible to keep track of every single thought-- and that is not what I would recommend, but it is not hard at all to become very sensitive to the way we FEEL. This way when we feel a dip in our energy-- a drop in our emotions from something good to something not as pleasant-- we can quickly turn our attention to our thoughts to see what it is we were thinking.
For example-- as i joyously write this blog, it feels good for the most part. And then I feel a little bit worse-- i feel appreciation for my guidance system at work, i check my thoughts, and see, "what will others think of me?".
Aha! That thought is not compatible with the joyful intention I hold to reach the people who are ready to hear these words. =) So my guidance system let me know, and now I can reach for a better feeling thought, such as, "The people who are ready to hear these words will be the ones to read them." Or "It doesn't matter what others think, this is my truth-- I am not trying to be right, only trying to offer a more fun way to live". Then I feel better.
However, in the craziness of everyday life, sometimes we are closing the gap on something unwanted, and we don't really know it because we convince ourselves otherwise. This is where dreams come in handy.
Things manifest in our dream state much faster than they do in our waking state. It is a sort of a sneak preview of what we are creating. Again-- not so much the actual visualizations you see while dreaming, as much as how you FEEL. If in your dreams the primary feeling is one of overwhelment-- you can put your money on your life being very overwhelming unless you begin to reach for better feeling thoughts.
This is truly a blessing, because they allow us to change our future before it gets here! What a wonderful tool we have. :)
On the flip side, sometimes we want something (like a lot of money), and we cannot accept it. There is so much resistance to the concept of being rich that we cannot even imagine it. So we may dream about winning the lottery, or winning a jackpot, etc. So upon awakening we recall it, and we feel the feeling of winning a large sum of money! This softens the vibration, and makes it easier for us to allow something like this to occur.
God, our inner being, All that is, The universe, etc etc.. wants us to have what we want, and is constantly calling us toward the outcome of our desire.
Read that last sentence again. ;) That's big.
It can be of great value to your to begin recording your dreams-- not every little detail, but mainly how you felt, who was there, and what you were doing. The biggest component being how you felt. :)
Then during your waking state you can take action towards feeling better, or basking in the good feelings from the dream-- I think once you get in the swing of this, it will change your life. =) Having that control is absolutely invaluable-- and it is just one joy ride after another.
You really will not mind feeling bad once you realize you can feel good and go in the direction you want. Feeling bad just feels REALLY bad when we feel we are powerless to do anything about it. =) When we understand this is just our inner voice saying, "hey there-- you are going in the wrong direction... turn around... turn around... turn around..." Then we may be more inclined to be thankful for the compass we have, and will gladly turn around. :)

I’ve been wondering about my dreams lately…. some are easy to recall in the morning… (I am not the type who can grab the journal in the middle of the night)… and then there are some dreams that get shattered into pieces and the recall is difficult… or only a couple pieces are able to be remembered….
I do believe that there are messages in our dreams…. even guidance…. and sometimes a confirmation on the choices that I’ve made.
I love your insight in this post! Thank you so much for sharing - it felt so good to read this!
Thanks for the comment MsCaprikell. ;) I hear ya on the journal thing. Have you ever tried mumbling into a tape recorder? =)
It definitely takes practice. I remember when I first started I would have to write down just a few words. Even if i remembered nothing, but i remembered a sun, or a certain person, or most importantly, the feeling i had when i woke up– that’d go down on paper, and then with practice i was able to recall more and more parts of my dreams. Eventually, I could even turn dreams lucid, or leave my body– but we’ll save that for another blog.
Glad you enjoyed it! My goal is to uplift and inspire, and to help others live the life of their dreams thru my example. Thank you for this interaction. =)
That is my “next purchase” for spiritual research… a digital recorder…. I think I could do that instead of having to become coherant enough to write. :) I know in a recent dream I avoided something extremely dangerous by “going back to where I started” rather than trying to walk through the path that had the symbol/warning right in front of my eyes.
Do you have the books that analyze what symbols mean or do you use your own cognitive analysis? I mean, I understand that all of the items in my dreams are aspects of myself… but I refer to my books sometimes when I don’t quite get it all.
I bought a digital recorder a few months ago.Must admit I haven’t used it as much as I should, but Dave’s post has inspired me to get back into it.Also, these last few days I’ve been having intense dreams concerning my current situation. There’s definitely messages in there, so I must record them.A digital recorder is a useful investment inj this area.
mscaprikell asked: “Do you have the books that analyze what symbols mean or do you use your own cognitive analysis?”
It’s all your interpretation, a personal experience. If there were a ‘Rosetta Stone’ that gave the meaning to all of the dream symbols that we can see, then that’d be great. There isn’t.Sorry! :(
But nevermind.Self exploration is great! :)
Try an experiment if you like.Ask two people to describe their association to anything.Let’s say a duck, ok, for the heck of it.Ask these people separately to picture a scene with a duck in it and to describe the scene and their interpretation of the scene. Then ask them again on a different day.Make each person think that they’re the only one in on the experiment. That’s important! otherwise they’ll just spout out the generic interpretation of “what is generally associated with a duck” rather than what they personally see and feel.
To Flex’s point: I agree with that. i used books for a while too, and they are fun– but i found them to be irrelevant to my own experience. Now, i never hold a belief like that too strongly because if you felt guided to check out a book like that, then of course there may be relevant info in it. But for me, i always use my own analysis. As I said, the most important aspect is how YOU feel. =) Emotion being the key component here.
I would definitely agree that you are the only one who can interpret your dream. =) Noone else has any access to where you have been, where you are relative to what you want– noone has been with you step by step by step of your life journey– accept your inner being/ your soul/ whatever you call it. I named mine Amber. ;) And that is who is communicating.
You see, your inner being is having a “conversation” energetically when you are asleep, and then right before you awaken, you recieve all of this in a little movie so you can understand it. =) Pretty neat system, eh?
yeah, that’s why I never answered by saying:
“read a book” or “don’t read a book” or “read some books 50% and self interpretation next 50%” or “read a book on a Saturday and self analyses on weekdays and take Sundays off”
Your personal experience may well involve reading only dream interpretation books.I just thought it was pretty well safe to say that you won’t find it all in a book. That would be miraculous, yet of course I suppose maybe possible. But ya know what I’m getting at here is that we have to work within some kind of frame of reference, ie: feelings are an example.Another frame of reference is going by what we know is most likely probable, in order to guide people is the best direction we know how.Suggesting that you look to ‘your own personal experience and not rely soley on books’ is the best guidance I can give in this area, and I only wish to give of my best.
When I say: It’s all your interpretation, a personal experience..
I mean that to the very core of your being.Whatever that means to you, that means to you.
As Dave rightly points out, feelings seem to be the best indicators that we know of for guidance, rigth here, right now, at this time and space. So yes use feelings as your guide.
But heck man, I’m up for hearing about even better indicators. It’s an open house as far as I’m concerned.Onwards and upwards! :D
I’m up for anything.
Ciao!
“If there were a ‘Rosetta Stone’ that gave the meaning to all of the dream symbols that we can see, then that’d be great. There isn’t.Sorry! :(”
Just to clarify on this. What I am saying sounds definite, and really definite is only definite in the realms of this subject. In the context of this discussion, what I am saying is definite!
But of coruse don’t believe that, just take it as you will.
Look within, there’s a wealth of information and insights that can propel you far further than the meagre general outside influences. And when you do look outside, look to the best. The best writers, the best teachers, the best of everything, the most successful people. But to go further than anyone has gone before, we must look within.
That itself may be a belief. But I tell you what, it’s a belief that serves me best.
Very helpful perspectives. Thank you both for your input! I guess, keeping track of the dreams and documenting will be the first step. And then to analyze them based on my own intuitive gifts… I’ve just had a difficult time trying to use my intuitve gift for my own analysis. It’s a good project to start… develope a new habit of remembering my dreams.

Absolutely! well said, this is a key point.I believe they call it ‘experiential intelligence.’
And that’s exactly why I say that as far what we know, it is highly!!! unlikely, to say the least!, that someone else’s answer to a deep personal question will be exactly the same as yours. An important thing to note here is that so much of our answer is subconscious anyway, even beyond the deepest dreams I believe, so really we just don’t know.
So yeah, I mean what do we know huh? :D
Maybe there is one thing, a word! perhaps that binds us all and explains everything.Maybe it is the word:
Divine
or the number
10
…or anything, an expression, a smile.I’ve not stumbled across the key to the Universe yet.And I’m not going to waste my life looking for it.Besides methinks it is in safe hands.
Peace!

Now that’s class! That’s really helped. In fact it helped this morning when I awoke from a dream.I interpreted the dream, and then was reminded to focus on the way I felt rather than what the image actually conveyed. This led to a different perspective, focusing on the feelings. The dream made a whole! lot more sense. Thanks! Dave. Buzzin!
Oh btw, as I awoke from the dream, the dream faded away, and by the time I went to record it, only a few moments later, I could no longer remember the dream.
Therefore I did a practice that I have read about before.Lie in the same position you were in when dreaming, as exact as you can be.If you’re feet were crossed over while dreaming, then cross them over now.Whichever way your head was laying, left right, ahead, do that again. This works.Don’t strive to recall the dream or panic, that’ll make it worse.Simply relax and chill, lie in the dream position, and it WILL! come to you.
Very cool, Flex! =)
Hi Dave,
This post is so well done. What you put down makes so much sense to me.
